My journey into interior design began in childhood, where I learned the art of sketching and spatial arrangement from my artist mother. Assisting her in transforming spaces for friends ignited my passion for design at an early age.

During my studies at the University of Maryland, where I earned dual degrees in Psychology and Marketing, I realized my affinity toward interior design as friends sought my assistance in enhancing their spaces. This realization prompted me to intern at a Maryland-based design firm, where I immersed myself in the fundamentals of the trade.

Following a brief stint in marketing post-grad, I followed my heart back to school at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Here, I honed my skills in AutoCAD, rendering software, and core design principles, consolidating my practical experience with theoretical learning. Armed with a degree in Interior Design, I embarked on a career path that led me through various small residential studios, where I actively engaged in projects from inception to completion, taking ownership during each stage of the process.

Several years later, I launched Tess Olivia Designs with a vision to streamline and elevate the interior design experience for clients, leveraging my expertise and creative vision. My approach to design is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, thoughtful planning, and a collaborative ethos, where I work closely with clients to achieve their aesthetic and functional goals. Effective communication is fundamental to my practice, ensuring seamless coordination with contractors and vendors to ensure projects are executed efficiently and successfully. With a keen eye for design and a well-established network within the industry, I bring a blend of creativity and business acumen to every project.
