My journey into interior design began in childhood, where I learned the art of sketching from my artist mother and where I noticed the design details everywhere we'd go. Not knowing yet that I wanted to pursue design full time, I studied Business and Psychology undergrad at the University of Maryland. Following a brief stint in marketing post-grad, I followed my heart back to school at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Here, I honed my skills in AutoCAD, rendering software, and core design principles, consolidating my practical experience with theoretical learning. Armed with a degree in Interior Design, I embarked on a career path that led me through various small residential studios, where I actively engaged in projects from inception to completion, taking ownership during each stage of the process.

Taking the skills I learned at the design studios and on site, and with endless support from my network, I launched Tess Olivia Designs with a vision of helping my own clients streamline and elevate their spaces. My approach to design is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, thoughtful planning, and a collaborative ethos, where I work closely with clients to achieve their aesthetic and functional goals. Effective communication is fundamental to my practice, ensuring seamless coordination with contractors and vendors to ensure projects are executed efficiently and successfully. With a keen eye for design and a well-established network within the industry, I bring a blend of creativity and business acumen to every project.
